The second notable finding was a strong, highly significant association (p < 0.001, Cramér’s V > 0.6) between SARS-CoV-2 humoral immunity and antibodies against common canine pathogens: canine adenovirus (CAV), canine parvovirus (CPV), and canine distemper virus (CDV). Dogs that were seropositive for those routine canine diseases were more likely to also be seropositive for SARS-CoV-2.

What This Means for Pet Owners

Precautions Are Sensible When You Are Sick

The guidance from veterinary and public health authorities has been consistent since the pandemic began: if you have confirmed or suspected COVID-19, take reasonable precautions around your pets.
